Hardwood Flooring in Dallas and Waxahachie
Nothing can add luxury and value to your home like hardwood flooring. We at First Floors Carpet One Floor & Home are therefore pleased to offer one of the area’s best selections of hardwood. Be sure to visit us in Dallas or Waxahachie!
Solid and Engineered Hardwood
There are two types of hardwood available: solid hardwood and engineered hardwood. Solid hardwood is the more traditional option, as it is made from genuine strips of wood. There is no special construction, so the wood planks are simply wood planks. Solid hardwood planks are usually thick enough to handle foot traffic and multiple refinishings. Engineered hardwood, unlike solid hardwood, features a special layered construction. The individual layers are cross-directionally pressed together by a top layer of wood, so the wood grains run in different directions. This counteracts wood’s tendency to expand and contract, so engineered hardwood is more dimensionally stable than solid hardwood.
